Vanessa has been a Physical Therapist since 1999. She first decided she wanted to be a physical therapist in her senior year of high school. Vanessa had to research professions and write a paper on the history of one profession. Physical therapy stuck with her. Vanessa went to undergraduate school at Abilene Christian University for a BS in Biology, got married, then immediately went on to Hardin- Simmons University for a Masters of Physical Therapy (both in Abilene TX), then years later completed a Doctorate of Physical Therapy through Temple University. Vanessa have worked in skilled nursing, home health, and LTACH settings, but the majority of her time as a physical therapist has been in outpatient orthopedics. Outpatient physical therapy is what she enjoys the most, but she brings all her experience from other settings with her into the outpatient setting when working with patients. Vanessa enjoys connecting with patients and ensuring they reach their goals/optimize their function. Therapy is often tough and can be painful, her goal is to ensure the patient sees the benefit of therapy and has the outcome they are striving for. Vanessa wants to give them the tools to be successful. She uses a variety of tools when working with patients, including manual techniques, dry needling, cupping, taping, therapeutic exercises, Pilates (when available), ergonomic education, etc. She will treat almost any and all orthopedic issues.

When Vanessa is not working she’s usually reading, taking her son to hockey practices/games, checking in on her daughter at college or working around the house with her husband. Vanessa has worked as a Physical Therapist in 5 different states prior to moving to Minnesota from Oklahoma in June of 2021.
