Kayla’s initial interest in physical therapy stemmed from her own experience working with therapists throughout her time as a high school and college athlete. It was then that she recognized the impact that physical therapists can have on not only their patients’ physical health, but on their mental and emotional health as well. While in school at the Mayo Clinic, she was heavily involved in research regarding the oncology population and played a role in community back safety education. Throughout her time practicing across the Midwest, she has gained extensive experience in the outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation settings.
Kayla believes that in order to decrease pain, optimize movement, and return her patients to doing what they want to do, it is important to individualize treatment plans and empower her patients to take an active role in their own recovery. Therefore, she values getting to know her patients so that she is best able to help them. As a former cross country running and track and field athlete and coach, she recognizes and has witnessed the impact injury and pain can have on a person’s life.
In her free time, Kayla enjoys spending time with her family and partaking in anything outdoors, whether that be traveling, running, biking, hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or waterskiing.
