J.A. Schwartz, PT

I have been practicing in outpatient orthopedics since 1990. I graduated from Boston University, and have practiced in Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey, and Minnesota. I have served the community as a physical therapist in the Minnesota metro area since 1997, and have shadowed dozens of physicians, been present during surgical procedures, and have helped develop protocols for non-surgical spine care. I am a contributing author to a book that espouses a collaborative treatment model for neck and back care, and have been a speaker at continuing education courses for the past 10 years.

I have managed physical therapy clinics for more than 20 years, having been responsible for the performance, staffing, marketing and professional development of individual clinic sites in three different states. I have also helped oversee the performance of multiple clinics in specific geographic areas.

I have been a mentor to dozens of physical therapists over the course of my career, and am an active clinical instructor who guides student physical therapists through their clinical affiliations. I am a strong believer in the responsibility that more experienced clinicians have to help younger therapists find professional fulfillment in their careers.

I have also been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1988, and have an active interest in advocacy for the profession through my participation in multiple Association forums and work groups.

I have areas of specialty that include spine care, pre-and post-natal women’s health care, shoulder care and throwing mechanics.
