Elizabeth “Liz” has an extensive background in dance, dancing a variety of styles in studios from a young age, performing as a member of her dance team in high school, studying dance in college, and coaching. It is through her participation in dance that she first became interested in physical therapy and discovered its value in the prevention of and recovery from injuries to allow for safe, competitive participation in sport.
She earned her bachelor of science degree from UW – Madison in 2014 where she majored in kinesiology and received a certificate in dance movement therapy. This allowed her to study the human body in detail with relation to movement as not only beneficial for physical health, but also for mental health. She then went on to graduate with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the U of M – Twin Cities in 2017. Since that time, she has developed a passion for treating people with orthopedic and sport-related injuries, as well as a variety of pelvic health conditions including incontinence, pelvic pain, and pregnancy-related conditions.
Liz’s approach to physical therapy is to always prioritize each patient’s goals and to develop interventions centered around achieving those goals. She believes that physical therapy is most successful when viewed as a patient/therapist collaboration, so she works closely with each patient to develop a treatment plan that is both effective and feasible within each patient’s busy life.
Liz currently lives in Lakeville with her husband, who is also a physical therapist at Viverant, and their daughter. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at her family cabin, doing craft projects, decorating for the holidays, and watching the Minnesota Vikings.
